I don't like files that get automatically modified as version changes
(this breaks merging from various branches and so on). However, if you
look at the CHANGES file which comes with PicForth, it should tell you
what exact version you get.

If you don't use releases but get PicForth from my Darcs repository,
"darcs changes" tells you what's in.

You could adapt your Makefiles so that only one copy of PicForth gets
used in all your projects.

I understand, but having picforth.fs modified to contain the version
number is too much a hassle.
